Curls από Tiffany Chu
Imagine yourself walking into the living room. This bright orange carpet is under your feet. The colours are so different from the white and grey walls at the office; the soft and fluffy texture calms your emotions and takes away your stress from eight hours of work. This carpet is the carpet of curls that contains the 'dreaming' of life, relaxing you in both physical and emotional way.
"What we draw on from our memories, and think, imagine and create in our daily lives is our dreaming.” - Djon Mundine, Aboriginal curator, Campbelltown Arts Centre. ‘Dreaming' is the aboriginal term of relations and balance between the spiritual, natural and moral elements of the world that never stops.
Spirals are just like ‘dreaming’, free flowing shapes that allow unlimited adventures. They represent nature, associated with growth and transformation. The aboriginal history focuses on linking the human spirit to Mother Earth, combining both of them to create stories out of what we imagine. Each of them have their own identity. Hence, in this carpet design, each spiral (or curl) have their own unique sizing and placement.
From the moment we were born, we dream and slowly visualise to build a future we desire. The use of bright colours on the carpet indicates optimism and encouragement, which is essential for us, since we live in a demanding world.
