My design is inspired in my last year which I spent abroad. I had the opportunity to study and live in Lisbon as part of an student exchange programme. This beautiful city is vibrant and full of life. The aim of my design is to gather its essence and capture what Lisbon means to me. Inspired by its intense colours, light and the movement in the streets I have designed the rug using “ uma Sardinha” (a sardine in portuguese) which is a national symbol. Through its representation I express what I have lived and attempt to transmit it to others.

Mi diseño está inspirado en este último año de mi vida. Pude tener la maravillosa experiencia de estudiar y vivir en Lisboa y absorber de la cultura y belleza de esta gran ciudad. Con este diseño trato de sustraer la esencia, simplificar y plasmar lo que es Lisboa, su recuerdo; los intensos colores, la luz, la vida y movimiento de sus acogedoras calles.
Decidí escoger para mi propuesta “uma sardinha” , que con el tiempo, se ha convertido en un icono lisboeta. A través de su representación, expreso lo que he vivido e intento transmitirlo a lo demás.

My name is Ana Cotelo from Galicia and I'm currently completing my last year of Industrial Design and Product Development. Since I was a kid I have always been interested in the world of art and design in any form and luckily I have had the opportunity to study what I like the most. My designs are driven for two of my passions: drawing and photography. My main source of inspiration is my surroundings and experiences that encourage me to be more imaginative and original. I like the use of sleek shapes and bold colours.

Me llamo Ana Cotelo, vivo en Galicia y actualmente estoy cursando mi último año en Diseño Industrial y desarrollo de producto. Desde pequeña me ha interesado el mundo del arte y diseño en todas sus ramas.
Mis aficiones están relacionadas con este mundo; dibujar, pintar, crear y la fotografía son disciplinas que me gustan, a las cuales dedico parte de mi tiempo libre.
Mi mayor fuente de inspiración es lo que me rodea y mis experiencias, que me estimulan y animan a ser más imaginativa y original. Me gusta usar en mis diseños formas y líneas elegantes, además de colores atrevidos.
